What is MikuMikuDance?

MikuMikuDance (commonly abbreviated to MMD) is a freeware animation program which was originally let's users animate and create 3D animation movies of the Vocaloid characters, however the program expanded to let users animate characters from different media such as anime & Manga to Video Game Characters.

The MikuMikuDance program itself was programmed by Yu Higuchi (HiguchiM) and has gone through significant upgrades since its creation.
This wiki will attempt to build a community for fellow MMD users.

-- CyborgGOAT (talk) a lot seem to be active of this wiki lately... so for anyone is new here there is two things you should know and follow when deciding to add or edit articles.
 • Pages must be detail with correct information! adding blank articles will result in a temporary band.
 • Do not spoil any hint or the password in general, i repeat "DO NOT SPOIL!" this had led to a lot controversy between the relationship of the creator to the users of this software creating a lot of restrictions of access between there models for users who are wish to animate with that certain quality of a model but never get a chance to do so due to this one rule getting break. spoiling passwords on pages here will result your IP Ban permanently instantly without warning! this is how strict of this rule to protect the relationship between the creators to the users. if you desire to ask what's the password of any particular model then that forum will be deleted also if one commented a spoiler or hints then that comment will be deleted and user will be instantly banned. this is the only rule that you must careful to follow.

NOTE: i forgot to announce that this wiki requires all contributors to login due to the annoyance of spam and vandalism. some pages have been restricted to be edited due to vandalism or false information. (If you are new that be aware that you should not put the hints of password! and there is a rule that ripped models are not allowed.)

Contribution is always what keeps Wikis alive. For this reason, we would like to invite users and contributors who has knowledge about models from the following series/information:
 • Kantai Collection, especially about Shunsaku Kudo, the commanding officer of IJN Ikazuchi and IJN Hibiki, ships represented in the game. Kudo himself is not part of Kantai Collection, but due to his humanitarian move during World War II, he is often shown with and closely associated with Ikazuchi in MMD movies. In character, Inazuma and Ikazuchi mimicks Kudo's humanitarian trait in spite of being combat shipgirls.
 • Hibike! Euphorium
 • Newer voicebank avatars of the recent VOCALOID releases
 • Other UTAU voicebanks whose avatars have MMD models
If you have information about models from these series and their sources, please create pages or contact us if you don't know how. Model listing is subject to the house rules. The upload website, Bowl Roll, has changed user formats so that accounts are identified by User ID numbers than Twitter handle. A mass cleanup is in effect for all articles that have Bowl Roll links with Twitter handles as they now redirect to the newest uploaded data.

Due to a case in Vocaloid Wiki, where a user simply edited pages, adding idle and non-constructive information, petty comments, and made modifications for the sake of getting medals and badges (certain Wikia sites have badges and medals for contributions), the House Rules have been updated to address this annoying behavior from users.

Activities conducted in the Wiki must typically comprise of constructive edits, additions and updates. Any activity found to be simply of nuisance nature, or to farm points and rewards without veritable contribution will be dealt with harshly.

Making petty edits, nonsense comments, updates that keep being reverted due to being changes of no real value, for the sake of getting contributor/editor medals is an insult to other users who actually put in worthwhile information. Hence, this update.
UTAU Wiki now has a policy like this, and it is expected Vocaloid Wiki will soon follow suit.

The following categories created are Ah-Software Vocaloid Models, Bplats Vocaloid Models, Crypton Vocaloid Models, Internet Co. Vocaloid Models. Unlike the Zero-G and PowerFX categories these have subcategories to keep Vocaloids that have a large number of Models separated. There wrtr some exceptions for those with little to no models for them.
Titled pages have become and followed by moving the pages and files to their appropriate categories.
Meiko → MEIKO, Gumi → GUMI, Gakupo Kamui → Gackpo Camui, Mayu → MAYU.
October 31 2013
The following categories Zero-G Vocaloid Models and PowerFX Vocaloid Models have been created and the individual categories for each Vocaloid of these companies have been deleted. This was due to them not having many models between them.
This may be the same result for other low model count Vocaloids such as those from AH-Software, with the exception depending on how high the model count is for each Vocaloid.
There will be a revamp of the Infobox templates due to unsatisfactory results of their appearance.
And template About this model category has been created just for consistency purposes.
October 26 2013
Moved pages and images from Category:Kaito Models to Category:KAITO Models.
This was done in order to match Vocaloid wiki name policy, it will continue with other Vocaloids who have stylized names.

June 7 2013
PMX Editor 0.2.1.9 is released.
June 3 2013
MikuMikuDance 7.39m is released, and for an odd reason.
HiguchiM made an official release to combat the distribution of an infected version that has been spreading lately.
On a side note, a 64-bit version of MikuMikuDance is also available. If you're using Vista, 7 or 8 that is 64bit, and with lots of ram, this is something you SHOULD get.
64bit architectures addresses above 3 gigabytes of ram, a limitation that 32bit operating systems have. Most computers sold today have at least 4 gigabytes minimum, and DDR3, the current memory architecture prevailing, has 4, 8 or even 16gb per stick.

An important update regarding models based on works by Tda.

I received reports that naked/base edits of my model are going around in some overseas communities.

I'd like to express my opinion on these edits. Naked/base edits may infringe Piapro Character License. In addition naked/base edits may lead to the use for R-18 rated works.

I request that (existing) naked/base edits should not be distributed. Thank you.

All models based from Tda's works featuring total nudity should not be distributed.
Moreover...

Usage rule of Tda models is revised. Naked/base edits is not allowed (anymore). Thank you.

If you're wondering why restrictions like this exist, there's a simple explanation of it-- such edits can get the original creator in trouble. In a country like Japan, policies are rather strict and are also enforced in a social level. Even if the edit is located outside Japan, the original creator cannot escape the responsibility in being partially the origin of such models.
As we also are fans, it is imperative to protect the model creator from potential trouble.
The original announcement can be found here.

 • New categories to sort models by their clothing have been created, to start off easy there is only basic things such as one piece dress and swimwear. You can see them here Category:MMD Models/Assorted fashions. If there are anymore ideas to make model sorting and finding more convenient, then do suggest them on the Wiki Discussions board.
May 23 2013
 • Template:Infobox MMDmodel has been updated with a thumbnail parameter that links to NicoNico(nnd_id) and YouTube(yt_id), these are optional as the "Displayed" parameter is still present. See forum topic, Upcoming update for Model templates, for more information.
 • The templates "Notice/ThisArticle", "Notice/Discontinued", and "Notice/Restricted" had their "Notice/" part removed. They function the same as always. While the newest template is Template:Exclusive model, which informs readers of models that have limited release.
April 07 2013
 • The Forums have been activated, meaning there is an option to start a topic from any page. Please do not use this to spam the forum.
 • Preload templates have been created, which should make it easier to set up a page layout without having to copy past from another thread. If it is your first time editing here, please view the original template to see the parameter usage.
 • Model creator pages have a slightly new layout and category change.
 • The Infoboxes have been updated to include keywords that react by changing the infobox color. The MMD character model template has keywords that react to the name of a Vocaloid.
 • And since the ModelGroup template appears difficult for some, it will be removed in favor of raw category placement. It will be a while to back track through the current pages and remove this template but there is no rush. If you are creating a page, simply remove the template and sort models accordingly. Do remember that that the Infobox and tag templates sort the page automatically. So it is mainly categorizing the page by series and character.

Forum:Announcement:Updating Infobox to appear horizontal
The Infoboxes have been updated to go horizontal instead of vertical. This is to give the content of the page more display room.
There are still adjustments being made, such as the 'credit' section of the template, this will have to hold the modinfo E template and programs that were used. While 'model' mentions will have to be moved below the Trivia section.
The modinfo U template will now appear by default if the 'Editable' and 'Distributable edit' sections are not filled. Also, when adding File Name of the models, the underscores will have to be removed, because this apparently causes the infobox to stretch unnecessarily.
January 12 2013
Templates created Infobox MMDstage and Infobox MMDaccessory. Along with their own set of (terms and conditions) TAC tags. See Templates page for further information.
These are currently in a testing phase, so there is no rush to create pages involving Stages and Accessories, however, if you feel you are up to the tasks and want to attempt an article with the following subjects, you are free to do so. The admin will correct anything that appears out of place.
A Stage and Accessory page should follow a format similar to Model pages, "Model_Subject_(Creator)". It is preferred that the stage/accessory's creation is not the result of heavy modification of a copyrighted source, such as 'video game rips'. There can be a discussion for minor rips.

To make it easier to find models that are from a certain style, derivative categories will be created. e.g. Nanoha1052 style and TDA style
It will take some time to pick through the main root category to minimize the sorting of models that are pieced together from many models rather than one or two. It is the model's appearance that is the primary factor.

The page File hosting services has been created, so the most commonly used downloading locations are summarized there. And adding a link to a model page, such as MediaFire, will cause it to redirect to that page. If there are more services that are used by the MMD community, please edit the page and follow the layout. Thank you.

TO MODEL EDITORS: Before making a new model page, make sure the model complies with the rules of the author(s). If you are unsure, check the Model Creator Permissions page.
July 3
The mention of 'via download' locations on model pages, should now be linked within the wiki, meaning Example, will now become Example.com or simply Example. The link will be redirected to the MMD:Glossary for further information, though it is subject to change upon further notice. Click here for MediaFire entry.
